Journolio is a travel blog and photography portfolio, built and run by one person. If something is broken or confusing, email me and I will answer: will.degasparis@gmail.com.
Common questions
I signed in but I still cannot see everything.
Signing in and being on someone’s list are two different things. Each blog’s author decides individually who can see their private posts. Open the blog you want to read while signed in and use Request access; the author is the one who approves it.
I asked for access and nothing happened.
Requests do not send a notification — the author sees them next time they open their dashboard. If it has been a while, ask them directly.
How do I delete my account?
On this site, open your dashboard and use Delete my account at the bottom. In the mobile app it is on the Account screen. It starts immediately and cannot be undone, and it takes your photographs, videos, voice notes and location history with it. See Privacy.
My upload is taking forever.
Video especially: a short 4K clip is several hundred megabytes, and on slow wifi that is genuinely tens of minutes. Uploads resume where they left off rather than starting again, so a dropped connection costs you the gap and not the file. Leave it running.
The app is using a lot of battery.
Background location recording is the cause, and it is off unless you turn it on. Switch tracking off in the app when you are not moving, or reduce how often it records. Turning it off entirely in iOS Settings under Location Services also works and breaks nothing else.
Photographs went to the wrong stop.
Photographs are matched to a stop by when they were taken, so a camera whose clock is wrong or in the wrong time zone will scatter them. You can reassign any photograph by hand from the trip editor.
I want a copy of my data.
Email me and I will send you one.
Reporting a problem
The more of this you can include, the faster it gets fixed: what you were doing, what you expected, what happened instead, whether it was on the website or the phone, and roughly when. Screenshots help more than descriptions of screenshots.
On the phone there is a Diagnostics screen under Account which reports what the app can and cannot reach; if it shows an error, include it.
